Colonial Football Officials
Tony Ciccaglione’s Football officiating career spans over 43 years starting at the sub varsity level and advancing to Division 1.
A star athlete he played at Trumbull HS and Trinity College in CT. Tony graduated with a BS in Economics and continued his education at University of Bridgeport with a Master’s in Business Administration.
He started his officiating career in 1978 for the Fairfield County Chapter and was a founding father of the Colonial Football Officiating Association. Tony was instrumental in registering the Colonial Board through a direct presentation to the State Board for recognition and certification.
During his high school career Tony served various positions on the Colonial Board including a two-time President and leader of the Better Officiating committee. On the field was a Head Linesmen in the early years and then moved to the Referee position in 2004 and he continues to work. Tony has received assignments at all levels of the playoffs including five LL Championship.
In 1988 Tony transitioned to the college ranks when he joined the ECAC CT Chapter where he was a Head Linesmen. In 2001, he joined the Philadelphia based ECFOA and began officiating at the Division 1 Level. He later transferred to the Northeast Conference until his retirement in 2013.
During his early collegiate career Tony was selected for several NCAA Division III playoffs and a Division II semifinal. With the Northeast Conference he was assigned to various playoff games including his final game at Appalachian State University in 2013.
In 2016 as Vice President of the State Board he initiated ‘cross over game coverage’ when Colonial and Eastern swapped regular season assignments. This successful program now involves all six boards and provides beneficial experiences for officials and coaches.
He was recognized in 2011 by the National Football Foundation for his Excellence in Football Officiating and currently presides as the Chapter’s Vice President.
In 1987 Tony was inducted to the Trumbull High School Hall of Fame, and, in 2018 the EAIFO CT Chapter recognized him with the Joseph L. Warren Award for distinguished service.
Employed by RESA Power Tony resides in Trumbull with his wife Charlene and family, Christie, Amy and Anthony plus their spouses and their newest addition granddaughter Cora Rose.
